The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged three foreign citizens with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotics. The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendants illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug "Methadone". Also, the defendants devalued a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug "Methadone" for the purpose of sale and placed it in various locations. During the personal search of the defendants, law enforcement officers seized 75 packages of the narcotic drug "Methadone". Also, in Kutaisi and Tskaltubo municipalities, 249 packages of "Methadone" placed by the defendants for the purpose of facilitating the sale of the narcotic drug were seized from three different locations. The detainees were charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph “a”, Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraph “b” and Article 6, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and facilitation of the illegal sale of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs by a group by prior agreement), which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment. Based on the prosecutor's motion, the court has already sentenced the defendants to imprisonment as a preventive measure.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on April 30, 2026, a car race was arbitrarily organized on the road in the village of Sanavardo, Kvareli Municipality, during which the drivers of a car participating in the race and a second car that had come to watch the race failed to ensure safe driving and collided with each other. As a result, the passengers of the second car received health injuries, one of whom, a minor, died as a result of the injuries received. Law enforcement officers arrested the drivers of both vehicles based on a judge's ruling. The detainees were charged under Article 276, Parts 2 and 6 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (violation of traffic safety rules by the person driving the vehicle, which resulted in less serious injury to health and loss of life), which provides for up to seven years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment. The Prosecutor's Office has already petitioned the court to sentence both defendants to imprisonment.

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged three individuals with violence committed during an election campaign event in Samtredia on August 11, 2024. An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on August 11, 2024, during the opening of the Samtredia regional office of the political party “Akhali”, Sulkhan-Saba Nikoleishvili hit Nikanor Melia in the head, as a result of which the latter suffered physical pain. During the incident, Nikanor Melia’s companions – Gabriel Kobaidze and Tsotne Mirtskhulava – physically assaulted Sulkhan-Saba Nikoleishvili in response, as a result of which the latter suffered pain and received minor injuries. Law enforcement officers charged the defendants under Part 1 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (violence during an election campaign event), which provides for a fine or up to 2 years of imprisonment as the form and extent of punishment. The Prosecutor's Office shall apply to the court for the application of a preventive measure against the accused within the time limit established by law.

The Batumi City Court fully accepted the evidence presented by the prosecutor's office and found the defendant guilty of the intentional murder of a newborn baby by its mother. The evidence examined during the trial established that on February 22, in the restroom of one of the Batumi clinics, a nurse from the same clinic gave birth to a baby, after which, with the intent to kill the newborn, she inflicted life-threatening injuries on various parts of the body and placed it in a polyethylene bag intended for medical waste. The newborn, who was in a life-threatening condition, was provided with emergency and complex medical care by the clinic's medical staff, however, due to the severity of the injuries he sustained, he died on March 27 in the clinic's intensive care unit. The Batumi City Court found the defendant guilty of the charges brought under Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional murder of a newborn child by a mother immediately after childbirth) and sentenced him to 4 years in prison.
