The Prosecutor's Office has charged three foreign citizens with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotics.
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged three foreign citizens with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotics. The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendants illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug "Methadone". Also, the defendants devalued a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug "Methadone" for the purpose of sale and placed it in various locations. During the personal search of the defendants, law enforcement officers seized 75 packages of the narcotic drug "Methadone". Also, in Kutaisi and Tskaltubo municipalities, 249 packages of "Methadone" placed by the defendants for the purpose of facilitating the sale of the narcotic drug were seized from three different locations. The detainees were charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph “a”, Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraph “b” and Article 6, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and facilitation of the illegal sale of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs by a group by prior agreement), which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment. Based on the prosecutor's motion, the court has already sentenced the defendants to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
