Statement of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia

On February 8, the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia launched an investigation into the facts of sabotage, attempted sabotage, and assistance to a foreign organization and an organization under foreign control in hostile activities with the intent to violate Georgia's state interests under aggravated circumstances, under Article 318 (part 1), Article 19,138 (Part 2), and Article 319 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages.

The initiation of the criminal investigation was based on a statement submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia by representatives of the public movement "United Neutral Georgia," in which they highlighted the events that took place in the country in recent years, particularly in recent period, and noted that that internal and external actors' actions reveal a set of activities aimed against the Georgian state and endangering the constitutional order.

In order to effectively take appropriate measures and conduct a thorough, complete, and objective investigation, the investigation group comprised the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia's Investigation Unit, and the pertinent State Security Service units. The investigation's progress, along with relevant legal assessments, will be regularly made public.
