The prosecutor's office's evidence led to the accused's 18-year prison term for the murder of his ex-wife under aggravating circumstances

14 February, 2024

The accused was found guilty of his ex-wife's murder under aggravating circumstances by the Tbilisi City Court, which accepted all of the evidence provided by the prosecutor's office.

The trial's evidence established that on June 4, 2023, in the Kukia settlement of Tbilisi, the accused used a rope to strangle his ex-wife, citing gender-based intolerance. He then covered his tracks by concealing the corpse in the trunk of a car, driving it to the Gldani district, and throwing it into a ravine.

On June 6, law enforcement agents took the criminal into custody. He was charged under Georgia's Criminal Code, Article 11 Prima 109, subsections "h" and "k" (intentional murder against a family member on the basis of gender).

The defendant was given an 18-year prison sentence after the Tbilisi City Court judged him guilty of the crime in its entirety.
The decision by the court to raise the punishment will be appealed by the prosecutor's office.
