In a separate case from Giga Avaliani's criminal case, Giorgi Malania was charged with aiding and abetting in the intentional infliction of serious bodily harm.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has established that in September 2025, Aleksandre Gabashvili, together with Giorgi Rikadze and Demetre Chikovani, planned a group attack on Giga Avaliani.

For this purpose, they identified Giga Avaliani, checked his social network, and downloaded a photo from it in order to visually capture and remember it.

With the help of Giorgi Malania, who was a student of Giga Avaliani, they found out his work and residence addresses, studied his work schedule, and how he traveled from work to home. They chose the place to carry out the intention and began surveillance.

On September 29, 2025, in the evening, Aleksandre Gabashvili, Giorgi Rikadze, and Demetre Chikovani arrived at the training center in Tbilisi, in the Sea District settlement, in order to take revenge. They set up an ambush and had all the conditions in place to carry out the attack, however, on that day, due to reasons beyond their control, they were unable to carry out their intention.

On October 1, 2025, according to a plan developed by Aleksandre Gabashvili, Giorgi Rikadze, and Demetre Chikovani, Aleksandre Gabashvili and Giorgi Rikadze attacked Giga Avaliani as a group, who suffered serious injuries, as a result of which he died in a medical facility on October 24, 2025.

Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on July 1. He was charged under Article 25, Section 117, Section 3, Subsection "L" of the Criminal Code of Georgia (assistance in causing serious injury to health in a group), which provides for up to 13 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.

The prosecutor's office shall apply to the court within the time limit established by law with a request to use imprisonment as a preventive measure for the accused.

We would like to remind the public that Aleksandre Gabashvili, Giorgi Rikadze, and Demetre Chikovani have been convicted of the above-mentioned crimes.

The investigation into the criminal case at the Ministry of Internal Affairs is ongoing.
