Within the frames of cooperation of the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and Council of Europe, there was held a multisectoral working meeting on violence against women and domestic violence issues. It was attended by the representatives of state agencies, Public Defender and NGOs. The meeting was focused on the coordinated activities, the importance of cooperation and challenges in this direction.
Specialized prosecutors on family-based crimes, coordinators of witnesses and victims as well as the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have been acquainted with the activities of the services, foundations and organizations that provide the victims of family offenses with legal, psychological, medical assistance and shelter, that will enable them to provide the sufferers with more complete info and effective assistance.
The Workshop was held within the framework of the Council of Europe project "Fight and Prevention of violence against women and domestic violence".
Fighting against domestic violence and ensuring effective and timely assistance to the victims is one of the main priorities of the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia. In future there will be actively continued working in this direction.
