Zugdidi District Court fully upheld the evidence produced by the Prosecutor’s Office and found N.Ts. guilty of providing false information to investigation.
Evidence investigated during the trial revealed that L.L. shot N.Ts. from a hunting rifle in a leg in village Sachino, Tsalenjikha District, on November 18, 2018. Intending to obstruct justice and help L.L. to avoid criminal liability, N.ts. provided false information to an investigation authority when interviewed first as a witness and later as a victim and stated as if L.L. did not shoot him and they injured themselves in a leg by accidentally discharging the hunting firearm.
N.Ts. was charged under Article 370§3 (obstruction of justice) of the Criminal Code of Georgia on April 30, 2018, and was sentenced to 5,000 GEL bail as a measure of constraint.
Zugdidi District Court found N.Ts. guilty as charged and sentenced them to imprisonment for a term of 4 years as a measure and extent of penalty.
