The Meeting was held in Chief Prosecutor’s office with the delegation of the European Committee for the prevention of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief Prosecutor Giorgi Gabitashvili and the representatives of relevant departments.
The members of the the European Committee for the prevention of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment were interested in investigating the facts of ill-treatment by the civil servant or his/her peers. The Committee members were provided with detailed information on the measures taken by the Prosecutor's Office against ill-treatment. The delegation members also were provided with statistical information about the facts of ill-treatment, the investigation into criminal cases and criminal prosecutions launched in the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, recommendations developed by EU experts for prosecutors and the work done by the Human Rights office, which concerned the monitoring of messages on assumed violations of human rights in the Prosecutor's Office and temporary detention isolators and effective responses to them.
The future views of the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and the planned reforms were discussed at the meeting.
