The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia requested the Court to apply the imprisonment as a preventive measure for defendants accused of murder with extreme cruelty and failure to report a crime committed on Barnovi Street

Today, on 16 April, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia requested the Court to apply the imprisonment as a preventive measure for the defendant V.B. accused of committing the murder with extreme cruelty and for defendant T.B. for failure to report the crime committed on Barnovi street, in Tbilisi.
The Law Enforcers detained V.B. on 14 April 2018, in the village Teleti in Gardabani District, and detained T.B in Tbilisi.
With the conducted investigation it was confirmed, that on 13 April 2018, approximately at 17:30 o’clock, V.B. inflicted several wounds in the chest and throat area to his stepchild T.G. in the presence of her minor children and left the crime scene. As a result of the received wounds, T.G. passed away.
Also, it was confirmed that V.B had told about the committed crime to T.B., who despite knowing about the particularly serious crime, failed to report to Law Enforcement Agency.
It should be underscored that V.B was found guilty of intentional infliction of grave injury against his spouse in unregistered marriage N.G. (The mother of murdered T.G.) by the judgment of Batumi City Court on 18 April 2018, under the Article 111, the 1st paragraph of the Article 117 of Criminal Code of Georgia and sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment. This judgment remained unchanged by Kutaisi Appeal Court and Supreme Court of Georgia.
The President of Georgia pardoned the V.B. by the pardoning act on 27 October 2018. The term of his sentence was reduced to half and he was released on 25 May 2018.
V.B. has been charged under the Article 111, the subparagraph “b” of the 3rd paragraph of the Article 109 of Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional murder by one family member against another family member, committed with extreme cruelty), this crime stipulates the type and the length of the sentence for a term of 16 to 20 years of imprisonment. As for T.B., he has been charged under the Article 376 of Criminal Code of Georgia (Failure to report a crime), which specifies the type and the length of the sentence for a term of 2 to 4 years of imprisonment.
The investigation on this criminal case is conducting by Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
