Court Found Person Accused of Violence against Ex-spouse Guilty

The Ambrolauri Regional Court fully accepted the evidence submitted by the prosecution and found D.T. guilty who was accused of violence against the ex-spouse under the Criminal Code of Georgia, Article 1261, second part, subsection “b”.
The evidence assessed during the trial proved that, on 23 November 2017, D.T., who was inebriated at the time, physically assaulted the ex-spouse during which D.T. slapped the ex-spouse in front of an under-aged child. The victim suffered physical pain as a result of the action of D.T.
Law-enforcers detained D.T. on 24 November 2017. D.T. was charged under the Criminal Code of Georgia, Article 1261, second part, subsection “b” (violence against one family member against another which caused a physical pain committed in front of an under-aged person). The Ambrolauri Regional Court found D.T. fully guilty in the pressed charge and sentenced D.T. to 1 year of imprisonment out of which the convict will serve 6 months in a penitentiary facility, and another 6 months will be deemed as a conditional punishment with 1 year of probationary period.
