Batumi City Court found M.Gh. and I.Ch. guilty in organizing group action, which roughly violates public order under Article 226 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Law Enforcement Officers arrested M.GH. on April 23, 2017, in Batumi city and I.Ch. on the same day in Tbilisi city, they have been charged under first part (organizing, managing or participating in group violence) of Article 225 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
The court considered it established, that on March 11-12, 2017, M.Gh. And I.Ch. organized group action in Batumi city, which led to mass disorder, road blocking, obstruction of movement, destroying the city infrastructures and burning of the cars, work of law enforcement bodies was also hindered.
The court has qualified the action committed by the defendants under Article 226 of the Criminal Code (organizing group violence, which roughly violates public order or is related to obvious disobedience to the legal requirements of the government officials or which has delayed work of the transport, the enterprise, the institute or the organization) and sentenced them to 1 year and 6 months imprisonment as a type and size of punishment. The prosecution side will appeal the mentioned decision by appeal.
