Court Finds Defendant Guilty of Religius Intolerance, Verbal and Physical abuse

Tbilisi City Court Completely upheld the eviden suvmitted by the prosecution and found defendant B.B. guilty of religious intolrance, verbal and physical abuse under para.1 and para. 2(a) (two counts) of Article 156 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Evidence investigated during the trial revealed that on August 22, 2017, B.B. verbally abused representatives of religious minority in Tbilisi, threw away their religious literature and damaged the stand, where the said literature had been placed. It was also established during the trial that, B.B. verbally and physically abused representatives of religious minorities in Tbilisi, on September 24.
B.B. was charged on October 23, 2017, under Article 156§1 (persecution of people because of their religious beliefs and religious activities) and Article 156§2(a) (persecution of people because of their religious beliefs and religious activities, committed using violence) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Tbilisi City Court found B.B. guilty as charged and by the aggregate of crimes, sentenced him to deprivation of liberty for a term of two years, qualified as a conditional sentence with a probationary period of the same term.
