Court Convicts Three Defendants of Aggravated Group Robbery Committed with the Aim to Appropriate Property in Large Quantities

Batumi City Court completely upheld the evidence submitted by prosecution and found S.K. and G.A. guilty of aggravated group robbery committed with the aim to appropriate property in large quantities under Article 179§2(b)-§3(c) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, while found T.K. guilty under Article 179§2(b)-§3(a, c) of the same Code.
Evidence investigated during the trial revealed that on January 3, 2017, S.K. along with G.A. and T.K. assaulted on the employees of Yalchin Market LTD while they were moving by a commercial vehicle nearby Adlia Street, Batumi. For the purpose to facilitate commission of the crime, assaulters transported the aforementioned persons by the same vehicle to the area nearby the Batumi Airport, where they appropriated property of Yalchin Market LTD amounted to GEL 148,546 and personal belongings of the employees of the Market by threatening them with death and violence that endangers health by using a knife and a firearm, and then fled the scene.
Authorities arrested G.A. in Poti, while apprehended S.K. in Batumi, one January 19. As for T.K., he was  taken into custody in Batumi on January 21. S.K. and G.A. were charged with the offences under §2(b) and §3(c) (aggravated robbery committed by a group, with the aim to appropriate property in large quantities) of Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, while T.K. was charged under §2(b) and §3(a, c) (aggravated robbery committed by a group, with the aim to appropriate property in large quantities, repeatedly) of Article 179 of the same Code.
Batumi City Court found all three defendants guilty as charged and sentenced G.A. and T.K. to deprivation of liberty for a term of 8 years and 6 months, while sentenced S.K. to deprivation of liberty for 9 years as a type and size of penalty.
