The First Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Met the Representatives of the United States Department of Justice

The First Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Mamuka Vasadze met Erik Peterson, the Deputy Director of the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance & Training of the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice. Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and Michael Grant, the Resident Legal Advisor of the United States Department of Justice in Georgia, attended the meeting as well.
At the meeting, the parties summarized the implemented projects within the scope of bilateral cooperation as well as the current ones. In addition, they discussed the matters of mutual interest and future plans. The First Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Mamuka Vasadze thanked the representatives of the United States Department of Justice for their support and noted that, their contribution in the process of development of the system of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and training of its employees is of paramount importance. During the meeting, conversation also concerned with implemented, current and planned reforms within the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia that aim to ensure independence of the system, its effective functioning and transparency.
At the end of the discussion, the parties underlined the importance of maintaining active cooperation in the future and expressed their willingness to deepen it.
