Prosecutor’s Office Demands to Impose Detention on an Individual Arrested on Violence Charges

Ozurgeti District Prosecutor’s Office has brought charges against G.D. on the fact of violence against two or more persons under Article 126§11(c) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Investigation revealed that, Ozurgeti district local G.D. planned violence against his former spouse’s husband G.Ts. and former mother-in-law N.Sh, since he was aggrieved at them. To this end, he came at N.Sh.’s residential house by his own vehicle while being in a drunken state on August 30, 2017, about at 20:00; at the site he saw N.Sh. and the latter’s Neighbour M.J.
G.D. shot in N.Sh.’s and M.J.’s direction from his own hunting rifle and fled the scene. As a result of the shootings, N.Sh., M.J. and G.D.’s former wife’s 5-month-old child suffered multiple injuries.
On August 31, 2017, G.D. was arrested on the basis of judge’s ruling; he was charged under Article 126§11(c) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Prosecutor’s Office has already filed a motion with Ozurgeti District Court requesting to impose detention on the arrested as a measure of constraint.
Investigation into the case is in progress under Article 126§11(c) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which entails deprivation of liberty for a term up to 2 years.
