Prosecutor’s Office Indicts a Person for Cruelty to Animals

Rustavi District Prosecutor’s Office has indicted citizen D.T. for cruelty to animals under Article 259§1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Investigation revealed that on July 31, 2017, D.T. had been beating a tied dog with a stick with a nail attached to it for about 15 minutes near a parking lot located at Megobroba Avenue, Rustavi. The inflicted injuries caused death of the animal.
Prosecutor’s Office has already filed a motion with Court requesting to impose a GEL 3,000 bail on D.T. as a measure of constraint.
Investigation into the case is ongoing under Article 259§1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia which entails fine or corrective labour for a term of a year as a type and size of penalty.
