Giorgi Badashvili Attending the Conference – Bilateral Cooperation in the Fight against Transnational Eurasian Organised Crime

Giorgi Badashvili, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia, is attending the Conference – Bilateral Cooperation in the Fight against Transnational Eurasian Organised Crime – held at the initiative of the Embassy of France to Georgia.  
The Conference is attended by the Ambassador of France to Georgia - Pascal Meunier, representatives of the Office of the Chief Prosecutor and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
As noted at the Conference, since 2014, Georgia has made great efforts in the fight against “thieves in law” for closer cooperation with EU Member States as well as for the fight against a new form of mafia-type organized crime that has been actively taking place in Western European countries, including France. Participants of the Conference discussed issues concerning better public awareness of the legal context, purpose and existing danger of the actions taking place in Georgia. Emphasis was placed on the cooperation between investigating authorities in the fight against crime. Participants also discussed the importance of mutual cooperation between French and Georgian sides in the fight against “thieves in law” for the purpose of exchange of expertise at all levels of criminal investigation as well as strengthening operational cooperation.
The Conference is to continue throughout the day, and, participants are to discuss processes pending and measures taken in their respective agencies in the area of active and effective fight against crime.
