Announcement of the Main Prosecutor’s Office Regarding the Indictment of Giorgi Kalandadze

Today, information was spread through the mass media means - as if the Tbilisi City Court withdrew charges against G.Kalandadze. The Main Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia announces that this information is not truthful and serves the aim of deceiving the society. The charges against Giorgi Kalandadze have not been withdrawn in any part of indictment imposed on him. He is still accused by the same articles of the Criminal Code of Georgia, by which the case against him started in the Court. To be more precise, he’s accused by the article 333, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “b” and “c” of the Criminal Code of Georgia for the two episodes, article 25-142 subparagraphs “a” and “e” of the same Code.

On November 8th, 2012,  Giorgi Kalandadze was indicted by the article 333, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “b” and “c” of the Criminal Code of Georgia – an episode of Vaziani. For this accusation, on November 09th, 2012, Tbilisi City Court imposed on him payment of a bail in the amount of 20 000 GEL.
On November 12th, 2012 Giorgi Kalandadze was charged by the article 333, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “b” and “c”. On November 13th, Tbilisi City Court imposed on him payment of a bail in the sum of 10 000 GEL.
On November 19th, 2012, adjusted charges were brought against Giorgi Kalandadze  by the article 333, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “b” and “c” and article 143, paragraph 2, subparagraph “c” and paragraph 3, subparagraphs “a” and “e” of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The petition of November 20th, 2012 on the request of imposition of detention, related to this indictment, was not satisfied by the Court.
On January 22nd, 2013, adjusted and final charges were brought against Giorgi Kalandadze for committing crimes considered by the article 333, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “b” and “c” (2 episodes), article 25 and article 143, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “a” and “e” and article 333, paragraph 3, subparagraph “b” and “c” (1 episode) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

On March 1st, 2013, on a pretrial hearing, Tbilisi City Court withdrew charges against Giorgi Kalandadze only in the part of accusations of November 12th, 2012 and November 19th, 2012 and left in force the final charges of November 8th, 2012 and January 22nd, 2013. Accordingly, today, he is indicted by the same articles, by which he was charged with the final accusation on January 22nd, 2013. Thus, Giorgi Kalandadze is indicted by the article 333, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “b” and “e” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (2 episodes), the articles 25, 143, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “a” and “e” and article 333, paragraph 3, subparagraphs “b” and “c” (1 episode) of the same Code.
